Two children die in Three Rivers fire

Investigators are trying to find the cause of a fire in a Three Rivers mobile home that killed two young boys on Wednesday. Antonisha Winters lost her four and two-year-old sons in the blaze on the west side of the city. Firefighters found the bodies of the boys in a badly-burned bedroom shortly after arriving on the scene. The children were identified as De’Marion Winters and his older brother, Darnell. The 24-year-old Winters suffered cuts on her hands and arms after she shattered a bedroom window in an effort to rescue her sons from the fire. According to investigators, she was unable to reach the boys due to intense heat and smoke. Family members say Winters had recently moved to Three Rivers from Indiana with her sons to get a fresh start. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Three Rivers Fire Department and Michigan State Police but isn’t considered suspicious.  (MRN)
