Pretrial conference delayed for Wing

St. Joseph County Circuit Judge Paul Stutesman last week granted another adjournment in the criminal sexual conduct case against David Wing, a former St. Joseph County public school teacher and administrator.
Defense attorney Ronald Grubbs requested that a pretrial status conference be delayed another 30 days, citing technical problems with accessing some of the prosecution’s evidence against Wing, 59, of Three Rivers.
Grubbs said some of the issues are complex. He added that he has had difficulty with digital files, some of which may have come from computers seized from Wing’s home.
The former educator at Three Rivers, Hillsdale, Marcellus and Constantine school districts was arrested by Constantine Police in July 2014. Wing was charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct involving two young males who had been Wing’s students.
Friday’s adjournment means a scheduled Feb. 9 trial date will be pushed out at least 30 days. Officials say they expect the matter to take four days if it does go to trial.
