Police officer enters guilty plea

Sturgis police officer Bryan Stuck avoided trial after entering a guilty plea on a lesser charge earlier this week.
The 29-year-old Stuck, a Bronson resident, was scheduled for trial on charges of drunken driving and having a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.
Stuck, however, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
A charge for high blood-alcohol content was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Stuck was ordered to pay $675 in court costs, fines and miscellaneous fees. Stuck avoided jail and probation.
The case comes following an Oct. 26 incident in Kalamazoo County, where Stuck was involved in a one-vehicle crash after leaving a bar in Climax.
Stuck was placed on paid leave in October by the Sturgis Police Department and was given a two-week suspension in November.
