Three Rivers voters will decide on sinking-fund

Voters in the Three Rivers Community Schools district will decide later this year whether to support a 1.95 mill, sinking-fund request.
District officials on Monday agreed to put the measure before voters during the May 5 vote.
If approved, the request would generate an estimated $9.9 million over its eight-year life. The proposal would cost the owner of a house with a market value of $100,000 an additional $97.50 a year.
District officials said a number of repairs are necessary and would be adequately addressed if the millage request is approved. The most critical needs include electrical, plumbing, and a variety of interior and exterior improvements at the six-building district. Funds would also allow for necessary repairs at Barrows Adult Education Center, the district’s administrative office and its transportation facility.
Repairs and improvements would be staggered over the eight-year period and begin with the most critical needs, according to district officials.
