Road commission acknowledged following snow storm

Members of the department responsible for clearing the roadways and making vehicular movement possible earlier this week were acknowledged Tuesday by Sheriff Brad Balk and members of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.
During the citizen comments portion of the commission meeting, Balk said communication between road commission manager Chris Minger, commission Chairman John Dobberteen, emergency management director Scott Hopkins and the sheriff’s department was strong as the storm increased in intensity Sunday.
Commissioner Don Eaton said he spoke to a number of people after the snowstorm and said he was asked to pass along acknowledgment to the road commission.
Minger was not at Tuesday’s meeting but he said the storm will stand out in the annals of the 2014-15 winter. He said the county received an average of about 16 inches of snow from the storm that started Sunday and continued into Monday.
Minger said the department’s entire crew of 26 drivers was on the roads at one point.
