Punishment looms for students who vandalized ski resorts

University of Michigan officials say they’ll take action against six fraternities and sororities involved in the vandalism of two ski reports in Gaylord and Harbor Springs.

Members of the campus community are condemning the events that took place Jan. 16 to 18 at Treetops and Boyne resorts, where students collectively caused nearly $125,000 in damage. They say the students’ poor behavior reflects negatively on the entire university.

At a Board of Regents meeting on Thursday night, two student leaders apologized on behalf of the university and said they hope the individuals will be held accountable.

President Mark Schlissel said he’s deeply disappointed in the Greek organizations, and there certainly will be punishment for the students involved in the vandalism.

Michigan State Police is investigating, but no citations or arrests have been made.  (AP)
