Joseph “Jody” Hughes III of Colon and Marty Mullendore of Three Rivers have been named St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department “Employees of the Year.”
The accolade was announced by Undersheriff Mark Lillywhite.
The panel that makes the recommendations is comprised of four road patrol sergeants and four corrections unit sergeants. The nominees are chosen from the pool of employee-of-the-month recipients through the previous calendar year.
Sheriff Brad Balk said without fail, the recipients are employees who represent the department well and treat people they encounter on a day-to-day basis in a dignified manner.
Hughes, 43, is a Colon High School graduate and has worked for the sheriff’s department for four years. He previously worked for police departments in Bronson, Mendon and Colon and is a road patrol deputy.
Mullendore, 54, graduated from Three Rivers High School. He is a corrections officer for the Centreville-based agency.
