Mary Homan, 69

Mary Ruth Homan, age 69, of Mendon died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at I.U. Health in Goshen.

She was born in Vicksburg, MI on Aug. 29, 1945 the daughter of Ray Eldon and Rachel (Shook) Culp. She attended Fulton Elementary and graduated from Vicksburg High School with the class of 1963. Mary was married to Roger “Bill” Homan on Feb. 14, 1964 and they resided in Texas during Bill’s military service. They have resided in Mendon since 1969. Mary worked briefly at Ronningen-Petter in Portage, was a bus driver for Mendon Schools, and at Lanes’ Dress Shop in Three Rivers. For the past 27 years she has been the receptionist at the Stephen Hoard Chiropractic office in Vicksburg. Mary was a member of the Factoryville Bible Church near Athens where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was generous, had a giving spirit, and volunteered for many projects at church and in the community.
Mary is survived by her husband, Bill Homan of Mendon; a son Rev. Jeff (Kristi) Homan of Deckerville and their daughter, Elle Homan; brother, Donald (JoAnn) Culp of Bella Vista Arkansas; and sister in law, Joan Culp of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Craig Homan; and brother, Gareth Culp.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM Wednesday March 11, 2015 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon and from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at the Factoryville Bible Church, 1291 Factoryville Road, Athens, MI 49011. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM Thursday at the church followed by a luncheon in the social room. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
