Aaron Van Vorst, 28

Aaron Van Vorst, age 28, of Colon, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, from complication of congestive heart failure.

Aaron was born April 23, 1986, in Sturgis, a son of Jeffery and Gayle (Moyer) Van Vorst.

Aaron grew up in Colon, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 2004.

He served in the U.S. Navy. Aaron enjoyed the out of doors and loved to hunt and fish.

He had worked as a welder for Lippert in Middlebury, Ind., with several of his relatives.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley Van Vorst of Cassopolis; two sons, Layne JefferyMichael Van Vorst and Noah Aaron Van Vorst; his parents, Jeffery and Gayle Van Vorst of Colon; a sister, Autumn M. Van Vorst of Bronson; a nephew, Jeremiah Van Vorst; an aunt, Rebecca (Pat) Murphy of Sturgis; an uncle, Luke (Amy) Moyer of Sherwood; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and BeverlyMoyer, and Clyde (Bud) and Esther Van Vorst.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Aaron Van Vorst will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at New Life Assembly of God Church in Colon, with Pastor Chet Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, with military honors conferred by the Colon American Legion Post #454.

If desired, the family suggests memorials be made to the family, for an educational fund for his sons.
