Ralph McGlothlen, 82

Ralph Evan McGlothlen, age 82, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. He was born on January 9, 1933 in Quincy, MI, the son of Edwin and Florine (McConnell) McGlothlen.
Ralph graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1951. Upon graduation Ralph honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On February 17, 1957 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nancy (Mechling) McGlothlen. They made their home in Three Rivers where Ralph owned and operated Standard Service Station, Ralph’s Mobile Station in Mendon, Ralph’s Auto Supply in Three Rivers, South West Michigan Speedway in Mottville, and retired from his son’s business, Al’s Automotive in Constantine in 1996.
Ralph truly loved his family and anything to do with cars, engines and motorcycles, including NASCAR and owned several Harley Davidson Motorcycle’s throughout his life. He enjoyed country, big band music, and loved to entertain family and friends. Ralph was a former member of the Mendon Masonic Lodge #57 and also the Three Rivers Shriner’s where he attained Ancient Scottish Rite.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sharon Rae McGlothlen, identical twin to Susan in 1971, three brothers, Bill, Ray, and Richard McGlothlen, also two sisters, Darlene and Marilyn McGlothlen.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife of 58 years, Nancy; four children, Wayne (Shirley) McGlothlen, of Mendon, Judie (Charlie) Ratering, Susan McGlothlen-Fenwick, and Allen (Barb) McGlothlen, all of Three Rivers; one brother, Fred (Rhonda) McGlothlen, of Constantine; one sister, Sandy Farnsworth, of Three Rivers; twelve grandchildren, Meagan (Joel) VanWoerkom, Marsha (Steve) Revard, Merissa (Derek) Countryman, Jessie (Matt) Hayes, Wendy McGlothlen, Luke McGlothlen, Moe Whitney, Jason Ratering, John (Stephanie) McGlothlen, Eric McGlothlen, Miranda McGlothlen, and Aaron Fenwick; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Ralph McGlothlen will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Booko officiating. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery.
