Dan Cast, 73

Danny Ray Cast, 73, arrived safely to his heavenly home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 2. Dan was a gentle man of love, compassion, conviction, faith and great sense of humor. Having been born in Champaign, Ill., on August 22, 1941 his family soon moved to White Pigeon where he grew up being a true “Chief.”

Known as a sports star throughout high school, Dan earned 12 varsity letters in basketball (his favorite sport), football, baseball and also track and field. This love of sports continued throughout his life. As well, Dan enjoyed time with his classmates, woodworking, photography, vegetable and flower gardening, birding, sulky and thoroughbred racing, fishing, skeetering, lighthousing and the great out-of-doors.

Dan cherished his wife Patricia (Pat Carr) of 21 years and son, Steven (Priscilla) Cast and grandchildren: Addisyn, twin sons: Connor and Matthew, Summer and Sierra. His stepchildren and grandchildren were also a very special part of his life: Mark Dkgraaf and grandchildren: Joshua Grace, Samuel, and Lilly; John (Alicia) Eisbrener and grandchildren: Melanie and Nathan; and Kimberly (Dennis) Bearden and grandchildren: William and Benjamin.

The congregation of Light and Life Wesleyan Church (LLWC) was his loving second family. He leaves behind a brother, Donald (Betty) Cast and sisters-in-law: Carol Hope and Penelope Nielsen; many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. Preceding Dan in death were his father, John Wilbur Cast; his mother, Dorothy Mae (Hahn) Cast Bowen; his brother Gene (Carol) Cast; and another brother, Kenneth (Joan, and surviving–Penelope) Cast.

Visitation will occur Monday, April 6, 2015 at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, Mich., from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral on Tuesday will be held at Farrand’s at 11 a.m. April 7, 2015, officiated by Pastor Samuel Maddox of LLWC. Internment will be in the White Pigeon Cemetery following the funeral. Afterwards, a luncheon will be served at LLWC located at 15765 Hoffman Road across from the UAW Hall in Three Rivers, Mich. Memorials may be made out to the Three Rivers Health and Hospice, for whom we give thanks for their wonderful care! Or to the American Cancer Society.
