Patsy Jean Scott, age 62, of Burr Oak, Mich., passed away Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2015, at the I.U. Health Hospital in Goshen, Ind. She was born May 16, 1952, in Sturgis, Mich., daughter of the late Robert and Jean (Lane) King. Patsy resided her whole life in the Burr Oak and Sturgis area and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1970.
On March 14, 1970, she married Steven Scott at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak.
Patsy had been employed by Sturgis Newport Business Forms and the Sturgis Register. She was also a homemaker and a very dedicated wife and mother.
She was an active longtime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak where for many years she taught Sunday school and was involved in Vacation Bible School.
Patsy was very active in the Burr Oak 4-H Club where for many years she served as the organizational leader and leader of the rabbit club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and flower gardening. Her sons remember well all the many Halloween costumes she made for them when they were young.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 45 years, Steve; three sons, Steve (Casey) Scott of Louisville, Ky., Brian “Buzz” (Elena) Scott of Greenville and Tom “ Toad” (Candace) Scott of Colon; 12 grandchildren, Alysa, Gina, Erica, Jessica, Brianna, Krista, Peyton, Paige, Reed, Colt, Brecken and Tripp; two great-grandchildren, Christian andMia and expecting her third great-grandchild, Mackenzie; one sister, Penny (Rob Howe) Leister of McLeansboro, Ill.; one brother, James (Pat) King of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Kate) King and Jean (Lyle) Rutter; one sister, Linda Ultz; and one brother, Thomas King.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Patsy Scott will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak. The Rev. Kurt Kuhlmann will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
