Helen Louise Miller, age 98, of Three Rivers and Centreville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis where she had resided the past two years. She was born in Macedonia, Illinois located in Hamilton County on Aug. 31, 1916 the daughter of Lenzie and Nellie (Smith) Corn. She attended school in Illinois, leaving home in the 1940s to work in Elgin, IL at the State Hospital. She later worked at the Kalamazoo State Hospital as a Recreational Therapist. She retired from the Continental Can Company in Three Rivers in 1975. Helen was married to Loys “Sam” Miller on Nov. 4, 1949 in Kalamazoo. He died in 1993.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Sally (Tom) Reed of Constantine; a son, Billy R. (Barbara) Adams of Vicksburg; step-son, William (Jacque) Bolinger of Windsor, CO; five grandsons, Brad Adams of Vicksburg, Matthew (Laura) Reed of Minooka, IL, Christopher Reed and Aaron Reed both of Constantine, and Joseph (Mandy) Reed of Three Rivers; five great-grandchildren, Lydia, Brynlee, James and Aylin Reed of Minooka, IL and Charlie Reed of Three Rivers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother and sister in law, Glen and Jethrie Corn; sister in law and her husband, Betty and Galen Conrad; and a step granddaughter, Nikki Bolinger.
The family wishes to thank the gentle staff at Thurston Woods Village for the great care she was given these last two years.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A graveside service will be held Saturday May 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Mendon Cemetery, with Rev. David Peterson, Pastor of the Centreville Baptist Church officiating. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.
