Debate continues on Bronson and Colon shared superintendent

Two weeks after Colon Board of Education members debated the idea of a shared superintendent with Bronson Community Schools, their counterparts in Bronson had an opportunity Monday to further discuss the potential arrangement.
Jay Newman, interim superintendent of Colon Community Schools, presented the possibility of the two districts sharing the services of superintendent Teresa Belote.
Newman said both districts attend Branch Area Career Center and the two communities, which are about 10 miles apart, are part of Branch Area Community Foundation.
Bronson board member Mike Roberts said Belote, who is in her first year as Bronson’s school chief, is willing to give the opportunity a try.
Belote, a Colon High School alumna, served as a principal in Sturgis for 10 years before taking the Bronson job.
Colon school officials will meet June 15 and are expected to continue debating the proposal.
