Michael I. Perry, age 17, of Sturgis, was surrounded by his loving family at their home Wednesday morning, June 3, 2015, when he was called to heaven following a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 22, 1998, in Sturgis, a son of Lewis and Karen (Miller) Perry. Michael was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a member of Sturgis High School class of 2017.
Michael enjoyed video gaming, watching movies and television, especially cartoons and Game Show Network. Michael’s infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Lewis and Karen Perry; three brothers, Ryan Perry, Kevin Perry and Nathan Perry, all of Sturgis; a niece, Anna-Marie Perry; grandparents Ced and DelMiller of Tennessee, Lora and William Gill of Kentucky and Tammy and Danny Puckett of Georgia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bruce and Betty Perry; an uncle, Richard Miller; and an aunt, Martha Jane Perry.
The family will receive friends from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Michael Perry will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Rodger Moyer of the Sturgis Evangelical Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Ind.
