Rolly Lamphere, 94

Rolly A. Lamphere, age 94, of Mendon, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Three Rivers following a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, IL on Dec. 11, 1920 the son of Roy and Marie (Englehardt) Lamphere and attended schools in Chicago. He was married to Ella Brabec in Chicago on Dec. 20, 1941, and they moved to Portage Lake in 1949. Rolly worked at Overhead Door in Kalamazoo, and later was a Tool & Die Maker for Andy Schmidt in Vicksburg. Rolly was always working at making furniture and fabricating metal, and as a result could build and fix anything. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed watching NASCAR events and country music.

Rolly is survived by his wife, Ella; one son, Rolly J. (Judy) Lamphere of Centreville; four grandchildren, Wendy Miller of Colon, Wade Lamphere of Three Rivers, Kristy Fielden of Union City, and Stacey Lamphere of Three Rivers; five great-grandchildren, Bradley Strayer, Justin Miller, Lindsey Miller, Zander Fielden, and Kiera Fielden; special relatives, Josh (Beth) Velie and their children, Alex and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by five siblings.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday June 20, 2015 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel, 305 Rock River Avenue, Three Rivers, MI 49093. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with David Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Dutton Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
