New faces throughout St Joseph County schools

Tuesday’s first day of classes in St. Joseph County schools brought with it a number of changes and new faces to its nine public school districts.
Two new superintendents are in place, as former Constantine High School Principal Christine Barnes stepped in as chief of Colon Community Schools. Meanwhile, former Three Rivers superintendent Roger Rathburn will oversee Mendon Community Schools on an interim basis for the 2015-16 academic year.
Terry Conklin returns for his 22nd year as superintendent of Burr Oak Community Schools, making him the dean of the county’s superintendents.
Tom Langdon returns for his fifth year in Sturgis, which continues to lead the county in population, with 3,300 projected students this year. Elsewhere, Jon Keyer in White Pigeon, Jean Logan in Three Rivers and Ruth Rowe at Nottawa School all start their second year at their respective districts, and Rob Kuhlman his sixth year in Centreville.
And in Constantine, Chuck Frisbie begins his final year as its superintendent. The veteran educator and Colon native has announced he will retire in June.
