Fishing license check leads to arrest on drug charges

A routine check for a fishing license led to the arrest last week of a Vicksburg man charged with drug-related offenses.
State police said Bruce Lovell, 52, Vicksburg, was fishing the St. Joseph River around 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Sturgis Dam in Lockport Township, when he was asked by a conservation officer for proof of a fishing license.
Lovell was found to be in possession of marijuana, authorities said. A check of his vehicle yielded an additional quantity of marijuana, as well as open intoxicants, drug-related items, a methamphetamine lab and a ready-to-use supply of meth.
Lovell was charged with operating and maintaining a meth lab, possession of meth, unregistered vehicle, invalid registration plate and possession of open intoxicants.
