Jane Boyd, age 66 of Centreville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday Oct. 14, 2015. She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on Dec. 10, 1948 the daughter of Earl and Mary (Overstreet) Thompson.
She was married to Bruce Owen Boyd on Dec. 29, 1972 in Portage. Janie retired from General Telephone & Electronics (GTE) where she was an operator and dispatcher for seventeen years. She later worked briefly at IKU Products in Three Rivers. She attended the New Beginnings Church near Sturgis. Janie enjoyed travel, and trips that included a casino. She treasured dinning out, family gatherings, and trading recipes. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Janie is survived by her husband, Bruce; two children, Debbie (Terry) Wycoff of Schoolcraft and Dan (Marybeth Clark) Cole of Union City; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Cole, Sarah Lanning, Amanda Cole, Travis Wycoff, Darrin Cole, Erin King, Courtney Mefford, Vince Troyer, Brandy Moore, Jacob Peruski, and Nathan Peruski; six great-grandchildren, Kassidee Cole, Ava Lanning, Madison Lanning, and Braxton Lanning, Lanaya Cole, and Wesson Reeves; one sister, Peg (Bill) Michaels; three brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Harris, Roger Thompson, and Tommy Harris; nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Arlene Altizer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at New Beginnings Church, 63022 M-66, Sturgis, MI 49091. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday Oct., 18, 2015 at the church with Pastor Randy Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to New Beginnings Church.
