Magic show benefits Colon Food Pantry

A benefit magic show last weekend will help the Colon Food Pantry stretch its inventory as a season of high need approaches.
A five-act magic show Saturday at Colon Elementary School entertained a crowd of about 60 people, whose price of admission was a donation of a non-perishable food item or cash.
In many cases, cash as well as food were offered. Other people contributed more than just a single item of food.
Lena Fitch, director of the food pantry, said every last can and box is appreciated and will go to good use.
The benefit marks the fourth year of Sharing the Magic, started in 2012 to help the local food pantry. Organized by Rick Fisher, Sharing the Magic 2015 featured magicians Frank Gayda, BJ Mallen, Steven Elkowitz, James Merrills and Doug Gancer.
The event raised $362 in cash donations and resulted in four large boxes of canned goods and non-perishable foods.
