Mendon approves plan for new store

The Mendon Village Planning Commission last week recommended acceptance of a plan for a Dollar General retail store.
The matter was forwarded to the Mendon Village Council, along with an additional recommendation that specific signage be installed to help negate some of the traffic flow concerns.
The proposed development is being eyed at the corner of West Main and Railroad streets.
Recommendations were subsequently approved by the village council.
With the approval, other permits and approvals can be obtained from the state before all plans are submitted to Dollar General Corporation for final action.
Assuming all goes as planned, demolition of the buildings on the site will be complete next spring, with construction beginning as soon as the land is cleared.
