State Rep. Aaron Miller this week voted for a legislative package that blends existing money and new revenue to provide sustainable, long-term funding to repair and maintain Michigan’s roads and bridges.
The House, which originally approved the legislation last week, received the amended package from the Senate Wednesday before approving the bill and sending it to the governor.
Miller said the House worked hard during the past five years to prioritize existing funds and has successfully invested more than $1.2 billion into the state’s transportation system.
Miller said $400 million has been allocated for road projects across the state.
Included in the legislative package is a bill introduced by Miller, calling for increased competitive bidding on local road projects.
The legislation now goes to the governor for consideration.
