Marion L. Bowers, age 94, of Marcellus, MI passed away at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo, Friday, November 6, 2015.
She was born February 3, 1921 the daughter of Earl and Helene Avery.
After graduating from Three Rivers High School in 1938 she moved to Holland, MI and married Henry Datema on April 12, 1941. She worked at the Holland Sentinel and attended Holland Business College. Upon the death of her brother Otis Avery in WWII they moved back to Marcellus. After an auto accident in 1951 resulting in the death of her husband she married Floyd E. Bowers on April 9, 1955. While living in Marcellus she worked at G.W. Jones Bank, Tailormade Industries and retired from Old Kent Bank as Branch Bank Manager of the Jones, MI office. She loved to read the newspaper, cook and enjoy her family. She was a member of the Home Arts Club in Marcellus.
She was preceded in death by her first two husbands and three children, Kenny, Larry and Ron Datema and her brother Otis Avery. Marion is survived by two sons Douglas Datema of Marcellus and Thomas F. Bowers also of Marcellus: two sisters Lorraine Griner of Jones, MI and Evelyn Brower of Holland, MI and many grand children.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM Thursday, November 12, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Marcellus United Methodist Church, Marcellus.
