Community Health Agency recommends shingles vaccine

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has issued a statement in which it is estimated about half of all cases of shingles occur in men and women 60 years of age and older.
Consequently, the agency is recommending people in that age group consider getting vaccinated. The department may be able to help people who are older than 60 years and lack health insurance that covers the shingles vaccination.
Through the Michigan Adult Vaccine Replacement program, the health department has received a limited supply of free vaccine to administer to eligible participants.
Moe information is available from the agency’s Three Rivers office, located at 1110 Hill St. Its phone number is 273-2161.
