Furlong waives preliminary examination

The man accused of murdering 11-year-old Jodi Parrack eight years ago has waived his right to a preliminary examination.
The matter involving suspect Daniel Furlong occurred during a judicial proceeding Thursday before District Court Judge Jeff Middleton. Furlong, 65, will stand trial for the murder, Middleton ruled.
Furlong faces charges of open murder, felony murder, kidnapping and second-degree criminal sexual conduct in the Parrack case.
He was arrested after a July incident involving a 10-year-old girl at his White Pigeon residence. In that case, Furlong is charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault with a dangerous weapon. He waived his right to a preliminary examination on the charges Oct. 6.
Furlong is scheduled to be back in court Nov. 20 for a status conference hearing in the White Pigeon case.
