Out and About – Week of December 14th

There was a time in my life when I had some real issues. They troubled me so much, that I decided to seek out a psychologist. I wasn’t on the verge of going crazy, but I just needed to talk to someone I didn’t know, with hopes of getting some much needed advice. The sessions worked, and I feel much better about myself and life in general. There are people willing to listen to your troubles for a fee, and if you’re fortunate, there’s usually a close friend or family member with whom you can share your feelings with. There’s also “self-help”, which is something that I’ve tried, and it seems to work quite well. Here are five answers to five ways to deal with time. They just might help make life more bearable:

How to stop time: KISS

How to travel in time: READ

How to escape time: MUSIC

How to feel time: WRITE

How to release time: BREATHE
Try these the next time you feel the world is closing in on you. This advice is FREE.

Something else that is free and also can give you that warm, fuzzy feeling is the act of donating blood. Giving blood is almost painless and is a deed that is in great demand. Blood drives are held locally at least once a month. Immaculate Conception Church will host the next drive this Thursday, December 17, from 11:30 AM until 5:15 PM, at the church, located at 637 South Douglas Avenue, Three Rivers. Giving blood can be one of the most precious gifts of all during this giving season.

I’m one of those individuals who loves those Hallmark ads on television. I also enjoy those Budweiser ads that involve the Clydesdales and that Dalmatian. My eyes often leak. The eye leaking used to bother me, because as a male, I was raised thinking that men don’t cry. There were some, and I’m sure there still are, who believe that crying is a sign of weakness. Nothing could be farther from the truth. No one should ever apologize for being sensitive or emotional, but rather it should be a sign that you have a big heart and aren’t afraid to let others see it. It’s better to believe that showing your true emotions is a sign of strength. If you’re a male, when was the last time you told your brother that you loved him? It might be a difficult act, but regretting to have never said it can be much more painful.

The number of shopping days is getting shorter and shorter. Please do what you can to shop locally. By this I mean to do what you can to shop downtown. The downtown merchants will go that extra mile for you and will keep the money here in the Three Rivers area.

See you Out and About!
