The Youth Advisory Council of the Sturgis Area Community Foundation granted more than $20,000 to the community this month in support of programs and projects that serve youth.
Grant recipients include Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County, which will receive $10,000 to support a new home built in collaboration with Sturgis High School building trade students; Sturgis Youth for Christ receiving $2,300 for the purchase of new cargo trailer; and Sturgis High School receiving a matching grant of up to $3,000 to support the Youth in Government program.
The Sturgis Medical Group will also receive a grant to support the purchase of new equipment to be used to help diagnose learning disorders such as ADHD.
The council’s next grant application deadline is April 1.
