Two Branch County residents were charged with sex crimes from incidents that date to 2006.
Michigan State Police said the victim, a 22-year-old Mishawaka resident, disclosed she had been allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times by David Green, 44, of Coldwater. The victim told investigators that Green took nude photographs of her starting in 2006 and that their relationship included intercourse.
The victim also told authorities a neighbor, Gene Matthew Keith, 69, of Coldwater and a registered sex offender, also allegedly took nude photographs of her when she was 13.
Upon further investigation, Green and Keith confirmed that the victim’s mother, Diana Rodriguez, allegedly tried to extort $5,000 from them, and in return, she would not report them to police for the incidents involving her daughter.
The Branch County Prosecutors Office Dec. 22 authorized a two-count felony extortion warrant for Rodriguez, a four-count felony child sexually abusive activity and habitual offender for Keith, and a four-count CSC third-degree felony warrant for Green.
Keith was arrested last week and Green turned himself in Wednesday.
