Larry Dale Hart, age 59, of Sturgis, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 11, 2016, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born Feb. 16, 1956, in Sturgis, a son of Daniel and Margaret (Masten) Hart.
Larry was a lifelong Sturgis resident. He had been employed as a meat cutter at Kroger in Sturgis. He also worked at the Checker gas station and Ram Products, both in Sturgis, and at an automotive parts manufacturing company in Topeka, Ind.
Larry was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army for three years, earning the rank of SP-4.
He enjoyed watching the Tim Allen Show and football on television.
He is survived by a daughter, Jamie Marie (Allen) Corier of Utah; a son, Jeremiah Hart of Indiana; a granddaughter, Addyson Corier; a stepson, Chad (Angel) Weinburg of LaGrange, Ind.; his mother, Margaret Hart of Sturgis; two sisters, Brenda (David) Thoms of Sturgis and Karen (Charles) Getzloff of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Linda Grace Bellaire; and a brother, Dennis LaRoy Hart.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Larry Hart will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Doug Carr of His House Foursquare Church of Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Full military honors will be conferred by Capt. John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
