Alice Mary Gamble of Centreville died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at the age of 80. Alice was born in Marcellus on May 22, 1935 the daughter of Roy A. and Eleanora (Settle) Timm. She graduated from Marcellus High School in 1952 before attending Western Michigan University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1968 and a Master’s Degree in 1972. She was married to Robert Gamble on Aug. 9, 1952. They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2005.
Alice taught at Centreville Elementary for 28 years where she was adored by her students as much as she loved them. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom as she created personalized lesson plans, supplied endless books, and arranged field trips for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Mintdale Ladies Club and Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; 2 daughters, Susan Gamble and Mary Lung; brother, Leroy Timm; She is survived by 2 daughters, Christine Gamble of Grand Rapids and Nancy Gamble of Centreville; grandchildren, Nick (Amber) Anders, Joshua Lung, Stephanie (William) Mack, and Tiffany Troyer; several great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Schmidt; and brother, Michael Timm.
Cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 PM Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers, MI 49093.
