Irene Helen Mangold, age 94, of Three Rivers, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Centreville. Irene was born in Lincoln Park, MI on Jan. 20, 1922 the daughter of Edmond and Edna (Stubert) Fountain. She was married to Hurman W. Mangold on Nov. 27, 1943 in Bryan, Ohio. Hurman passed away on Nov. 29, 1993. They spent six years in Missouri and Arkansas before returning to Michigan. Irene worked at Kalamazoo Paper Box Co. for four years, and eleven years at Sealtest Ice Cream in Kalamazoo. She worked at Continental Can Co in Three Rivers for ten years and at River Forest Nursing Home as a Nurse’s Aide for eight years. Irene loved to crochet, raise baby chickens, gardening, and canning food. She always thanked the Lord for everything.
Irene re-married on May 10, 2000 to Eldon Mangold, whom she called the Love of Her Life. Eldon passed away on Nov. 11, 2014. In addition to her parents and two husbands she was preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Porter, Betty Novesky, and Marion Nuckols; brother, Edward Fountain; and half-brothers, Richard and Raymond Fountain.
Irene is survived by brothers in law, Billy (Sandy) Mangold and Roland (Linda) Mangold both of Three Rivers; sisters in law, Dora King of Three Rivers and Reva (Dennis) Ledwick of Bronson; step-children, Ashley (Gary) Wilson and Tiffany (Andrew Lett) Mangold of Kalamazoo; step-grandchildren, Jayden, Ja’Nyha, Andrew, and Ayden; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Rudy Grantham, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church of Constantine officiating. Burial will be in Leonidas Cemetery.
