A boat launch, riverside boardwalk, scenic grounds suitable for weddings and a premier view of the Langley Covered Bridge are part of a potential plan included for St. Joseph County’s newest park.
The final draft for the yet-unnamed park will be created by officials from St. Joseph-based Edgewater Resources, who led a public-input session Thursday at the county’s parks and recreation office.
Over the course of the two-hour meeting, members of the county’s parks and recreation commission listened to landscape architect Suzanne Fromson as she presented two potential plans for the six-acre property.
Commission members discussed matters related to river access, parking and the length of a river’s edge boardwalk.
Based on input provided Thursday, Fromson will develop a final plan by the end of March and share it with the parks and recreation commission in April.
Parks and Recreation Department director Jaymes MacDonald said the agency turned to the public as part of a “Name the Park” contest. The winning name is expected to be revealed later in the month.
