Gail G. “Buckshot” Johnson, age 75, of Colon, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Buckshot was born Sept. 13, 1940, in Burr Oak, a son of the late Thurman and Lauretta (Fetch) Johnson.
On July 2, 1961, he married Patricia J. Haskins. They met when he was 17 and they were high school sweethearts. They would have been married 55 years this July. She preceded him on Feb. 21, 2015.
He had lived all his life in Burr Oak and Colon area. He retired from owning his own construction business and was presently attending Colon Church of Christ.
Buck enjoyed yardwork, gardening, hunting, especially fishing, and pitching horseshoes, but his family was his greatest love.
He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Johnson of Colon, Tonya (Aqeel) Ahmed of Burr Oak and Cheryl Pearrow of Three Rivers; two sons, Brett (Clara Dibble) Johnson of Colon and Jeremy (Doreen) Holtz of Sherwood; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman (Mardell) Johnson of Denver, Ken (Donna) Johnson of Sturgis and Larry (Sharon) Johnson of Burr Oak; a sister, Janice (Earl) Modert of Bronson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Gail (Buckshot) Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, at Burr Oak United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dave Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Burr Oak Township Cemetery in Burr Oak.
If desired, memorials may be made in memory of Buckshot to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
