Nicholas Peter “Nick” Ruddock, age 63, of Leonidas, died Friday, April 1, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo following a long illness. He was born in Marshall, MI on Dec. 5, 1952 the son of Fred and Arlene (Van Nortrick) Ruddock. Nick graduated from Marshall High School in 1971. He was an independent truck driver, and had worked at Graff Trucking and Denso Manufacturing in Battle Creek. Nick’s favorite pastime was fishing on local lakes and streams. During his illness he enjoyed connecting with friends on Facebook and watching Westerns on TV.
Nick was married to Vickie (Clark) Kent in Centreville on March 4, 1983. She survives along with five children, Nickole Ruddock of Marshall, Shawn Ruddock of Florida, Scott (Kathy) Kent of Colon, Dawn (Kevin) Pant of Centreville, and Heather (Chris) Wordelman of Leonidas; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Allie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Gray.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment of ashes will take place later in Leonidas Cemetery. It is suggested that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon.
