Robert Hill, 85

Robert A. Hill, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Cumberland, Iowa, a son of the late Charles E. and Mildred A. (Stolhanske) Hill.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Robert had been a resident of Sturgis since 1951. On Oct. 5, 1963, he married Susan Edson in White Pigeon.
Robert worked as a manager for Read-More Book Store in Sturgis and then owned and operated Hills News Agency.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Suzy; four sons, David Hill and Darren (Jillane) Hill of Sturgis, Chad Hill of Greensboro, N.C., and Andrew Bowen of Sturgis; a daughter, Michaela Bowen of Anderson, Ind.; grandchildren Joshua Hill, Megan Hill, Marshall Harker, Ariel Harker and Laurel Harker; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edson James Bowen; two brothers, Gordon Hill and Norman Hill; and a sister, Gerry Montgomery.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Private family services will take place and interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
