Duaine Allen Phillips, age 68, of Jones, MI died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his home. He was born in Mendon on Feb. 4, 1948 the son of Duaine W. and Dorothy (McClish) Phillips and was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1967, and served in the United Stated Marine Corps from 1967 to 1970. Allen worked for Chenoweth Roofing for over 20 years. He joined American Legion Post #170, where he was a Life Member, and a member of the Forty and Eight Local #545. He was also a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3019 of Three Rivers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting.
Allen was married to Juanita (Young) Carlisle on March 5, 1997 in Three Rivers. She survives along with a daughter Denia Phillips of Parchment; step-daughters, Regina (Ray) Bontrager, Rebecca (Levi) Roberts, and Carlina (Michael) Payne all of Three Rivers and Angela Marie Keith-Barker of Vicksburg; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dena Kelly of Florida, Shirley (Mike Guthrie) Lunde of Sherwood, and Wendy (Butch) Grice of Sturgis; several nieces and nephews, including Denny Phillips of Three Rivers. He was preceded in death by his father, Duaine Phillips; mother, Dorothy Lunde; step-father, Clayton Lunde; a brother, Doug Phillips; and a sister, Diane Yancy.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will begin with military honors at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 23, 2016 at American Legion Post #170 in Three Rivers, followed food and remembrances. Memorials will be directed to the American Legion Memorial Home. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon.
