Teresa Doehring, St. Joseph County’s human resources director, was named assistant county administrator under Pat Yoder following a vote by county commissioners Tuesday.
The 41-year-old Mendon resident was hired in January 2015 to replace Elishia Arver, who also served during a portion of her employment as assistant county administrator.
The assignment does not come with a pay increase, Yoder said. He noted additional department heads will report directly to Doehring, freeing Yoder to concentrate on projects as assigned by commissioners.
She thanked commissioners for their support and confidence.
Yoder, meanwhile, said Doehring during her 16 months of employment has performed in an outstanding manner and is more than capable of handling the duty. She hired in at a salary of $65,000 annually.
During last week’s executive committee meeting, board chairman Allen Balog said the appointment is a prudent move.
