River Country Has Talent registration opens

Registration for a first-of-its-kind competition in St. Joseph County opened this week.
Bill Johnson, manager of the St. Joseph County Grange Fair, said the “River Country Has Talent” competition will involve eight local community celebrations after a kickoff weekend June 3-4 at the Centreville-based fairgrounds.
At stake is $1,500 to the winner and $500 each to the two runners-up.
Johnson said with no more than 20 slots available at any of the eight community festivals and the fairground kickoff weekend, he recommended prospective participants not wait to register.
Cost to register is $20 per event.
He explained that the top three winners from the kickoff and each of the eight community festivals will assemble as a group of 27 semi-finalists to the fair once it starts Sept. 18. After the kickoff event, summer festival season starts two weeks later in Three Rivers and concludes Sept. 10 in Constantine. Colon’s competition will be staged during its community Fourth of July celebration.
Registration can be done online through the website: rivercountryhastalent.com.
