Study planned of deadly rampage in southwestern Michigan

A nonprofit organization plans to analyze a deadly rampage in southwestern Michigan and law enforcement’s response as part of a $65,000 study.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports local law enforcement reached out to the Washington, D.C.-based Police Foundation to ask for a critical incident review that will be funded by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Kalamazoo County and the city of Portage.

Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting told the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday the analysis could help law enforcement in the future.

The Feb. 20 rampage killed six people and wounded a woman and a 14-year-old girl. Uber driver Jason Dalton is charged with murder and attempted murder in the apparently random attacks. He faces a hearing on Friday about whether the case goes to trial.  (AP)
