Frances (Fran) Hanachek, age 87, of Colon, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
Fran was born April 14, 1929, in Chicago, a daughter to the late Theodore and Jennie (Meyers) Bronkema.
On Jan. 24, 1948, she married Michael P. Hanachek in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2001.
Fran had made her home in Colon since 1983 coming from Chicago and was a member of the Colon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four children, Linda S. Holmberg of Angola, Ind., Fran M. (Jim) Hohenberger of Crete, Ill., Michael P. Hanachek Jr. of Milwaukee , Wisc., and Cathy A. (Brad) Norris of Leonidas; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Clara (Peterson) Borchin of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judy (Cooper) Wing and eight brothers and sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6-7 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon with a memorial service taking place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired the family suggest memorials be made to either the Colon United Methodist Church or the Colon Township Library, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
