George L. Ersland, 83, of White Pigeon, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1993, in Ladysmith, Wis., a son of John and Maude (Keys) Ersland.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He was employed as a daily herdsman and later employed at Stoutco in Bristol, Ind., for 21 years. He was a member of the Constantine American Legion Post, enjoyed hunting, fishing, auctions and helping people.
He married Rosanna J. Terrell, who preceded him in death Oct. 4, 2001.
Surviving are his son, George L. Ersland Jr. of White Pigeon; granddaughhter Anna Ersland; stepchildren Louis Sherk, Terry Sherk and Nancy Gartner; several step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Judy (Joe) Reed and Dorothy Green.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers; and five sisters.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, with full military rites.
Arrangements were handled by Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.
