Budget bills go to governor for consideration

State Rep. Aaron Miller this week applauded passage of state budget plans by the Legislature, encouraged that the fiscal blueprint makes investments in areas important to Michiganders.
Miller voted in favor of both the General Fund and School Aid Fund budgets. The bills now go to the governor for consideration.
He said an important aspect of the School Aid Fund plan is a $120 increase in per-pupil funding for all school systems in the 59th House District.
Miller said the schools were traditionally on the short end of state funding, and now that pendulum is swinging in their direction and they will see greater per-pupil funding in the coming fiscal year.
Miller said other areas where the budget is prioritizing spending are in roads and bridges, law enforcement and veterans programs.
Miller serves on the House Committee on Appropriations, and serves as chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State Police.
