L. Marie Dimmick, age 95, of Sturgis, and a former longtime Three Rivers resident and graduate of Three Rivers High School with the class of 1938, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2016, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Three Rivers, a daughter of the late Fredric and Flossie (Davison) Miller.
On Aug. 16, 1940, she married James Arthur Dimmick at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Mrs. Dimmick retired from Armstrong Machine Works in Three Rivers following more than 27 years of service.
Her greatest joy and love was her family. She was so proud to have lived to see five generations of her family all together to celebrate her birthdays and the holidays. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis and the VIP Club. She loved to read and play cards and had a great love for dogs.
Mrs. Dimmick is survived by twin daughters, Deann (Chris) Buckhold of Sturgis and Leann Davis of L’Anse; a son, Fredric (Diane) Dimmick of Alma; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Stuart Davis; a granddaughter, Lynn McMillin; a grandson, Jason Dimmick; and a sister, Allene (George) Hartman.
Marie was adopted at age 2, but grew up knowing her siblings, brothers Edward and Paul Sholtey, and two sisters, Alice DeLong and Emily Killian, who also preceded her in death.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers.
