Josephine Copenhafer, 89

Josephine E. Copenhafer, age 89, of Colon, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
Josephine was born March 7, 1927, in Orland, Ind., a daughter of the late John and Bernice (Inde) McLatcher.
On June 25, 1949, she married Robert Copenhafer in Coldwater. He preceded her in death March 22, 2005.
Josephine had lived in the Colon area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a great gardener.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Roe of Sturgis and Deborah (Jim) O’Dell of White Pigeon; grandchildren, Dana O’Dell of White Pigeon, Jay (Jamie) O’Dell of Three Rivers and Martine (Don) Angus of Vicksburg; two step-grandchildren, Shawn and Crystal; three great-grandchildren, Jake and Emma O’Dell and Jacob Angus; five siblings, Mary Roach of Sherwood, Martin McLatcher of Coldwater, Dorothy Heator of Haydon, Ky., Theodore McLatcher of Coldwater and Teresa Noble of Coldwater; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Bradley and Joan Gales; and three brothers, Richard, John McLatcher and infant brother Edward McLatcher.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Josephine Copenhafer will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
