Cass County standoff ends in arrest

A Cass County man was taken into custody this week following a standoff with law-enforcement authorities.
According to state police, troopers were called at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to a Howard Township location where two people were struck by a car driven by a hit-and-run driver.
The victims provided a detailed description of the vehicle and authorities managed to locate the suspect in the 28000 block of M-60.
Troopers were unsuccessful in communicating with the 32-year-old man, who was inside his residence and eventually moved to a location where he was not visible to authorities.
Despite additional resources arriving on the scene, the man declined to speak with investigators. With the aid of family and friends, the man finally surrendered without incident around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The man faces a number of charges, including felonious assault and driving on a suspended license.
