Aaron Miller fended off a strong campaign from challenger Carol Higgins to retain his seat Tuesday as 59th State House District representative.
The 29-year-old Sherman Township resident likened his being contested to a “doctor’s check-up.”
Miller is finishing his first two-year term after winning the 2014 general election as a dark horse in a four-candidate field. He said it will be a relief to return to focusing on his job without balancing the duties associated with a re-election campaign.
Miller was a high school math teacher before his current role.
Higgins, 61, said her disappointment centers on the fact that so many people agreed with her position on a variety of issues but failed to show that support in the election booth.
Higgins said it’s too easy to do a straight-party ticket, which she suspects contributed to her shortfall.
