Centreville detour scheduled to be lifted

A four-month detour on a major route that feeds into Centreville is scheduled to be lifted next week.
Work crews are expected to finish the M-86 bridge replacement project over the Prairie River Wednesday, according to Nick Schirripa, MDOT spokesman.
He said the open-to-traffic date comes after a delay of about two weeks from original projections. He said if history is an indication, he is fairly certain work crews will meet the Wednesday projection.
Work on replacing the 93-year-old bridge started July 18 and has resulted in a detour that has put a high volume of local traffic on Truckenmiller Road to the north and Findley Road to the south. MDOT’s detour directs traffic to Featherstone Road between M-66 to the east and Shimmel Road to the west.
Schirripa said the agency is on track budget-wise with the $4.9 million investment.
