The latest incident of damage to the Langley Covered Bridge overhead sign occurred the last week of October, when the driver of a box truck disregarded the numerous advance warnings about height restrictions.
The southbound vehicle struck the overhead sign arched over the north end of the covered bridge causeway.
Road commission manager Chris Minger said the vehicle struck the sign square on and jarred the sign out of place. It was erected in July after being struck a month earlier.
He said the road commission will continue to replace the sign as a means of keeping overweight vehicles off the county landmark.
An invoice totaling more than $20,000 was sent to the company of the at-fault driver, Minger said.
