Larry Matson, 72

lawrence-matsonMr. Lawrence “Larry” Russell Matson Jr., age 72, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home. He was born in Coldwater, on March 10, 1944 the son of Lawrence Sr. and Ilene (Carpenter) Matson.
Larry and his wife Nancy moved to Three Rivers around 1982. Larry and was a skilled and avid musician, who played with many bands, most recently the “Oldies but Goodies” playing guitar and vocals. He was also proud to follow his granddaughter, who formed the “Erika Scherry Band”. In his early years Larry was a mechanic and auto body technician and also briefly worked in real estate. He served as a former 3rd District Commissioner for the city of Three Rivers.
Larry truly loved his family and friends often helping with yard work and chores for his neighbors. Larry also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He could often be found at the Dairy Bar having coffee and conversation with the “regulars”. His special dog “Roscoe” was Larry’s best friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence R. Matson Sr.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Nancy (Williams) Matson, whom he married in 1976; mother, Ilene Carpenter-Fager; three daughters, Linda (Lance Fraley) Scherry, Kimberly (Bob) Lord, and Anita (Curt) White; three brothers, Terry (Jeannie) Matson, Bill Matson, and Ronald (David ) Fager. Eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1st, 2016 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
