Lloyd W. Murray, 95, of Portage, formerly of Marcellus, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016.
He was born April 6, 1921 in Bloomingdale, the son of Alton Cole and Eunice (Laughlin) Murray. On May 5, 1945 in Detroit, he married Florence L. Bailey who preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2015.
After graduating from high school, Lloyd served in WWII in the United States Army and was stationed in Northern Africa, Florence, Naples and Rome Italy. He was a radio and television repairman and enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks and watches. Lloyd was a longtime member of the Marcellus United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He also played the bagpipes in the Kalamazoo Pipe Band.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Murray (Dave Huizenga) of Whiting, Ind. and Linda Murray of Portage; two sons, Paul Murray of Bristol, R.I. and Bruce (Cathy) Murray of Portage; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; one daughter, Carol Huff; one son, James Murray; and two brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the Marcellus United Methodist Church.
